Ethical Considerations for Animal Experiments
In deference to the lives of experimental animals, the Diagnostics Division of Yamasa Corporation respects 3R (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), which is the basic philosophy of animal experiments, and has prepared internal rules in compliance with the “Act on Welfare and Management of Animals,” the "Standards relating to the Care and Keeping and Reducing Pain of Laboratory Animals,” and the “Basic Guidelines for the Conduct of Animal Experiments in Facilities Under the Jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare,” etc. At the same time, the Division has established an animal experiment committee to review all animal experiments, and is engaged in the proper conduct of animal experiments with consideration for animal protection.
We also conduct voluntary inspections and evaluations of our animal experiment implementation system to maintain and improve the scientific and ethical natures of animal experiments. Our animal experiment facility was evaluated by the Center for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care and Use, Japan Pharmaceutical Information Center on October 11, 2023, and accredited as a conforming facility.
