About Us
Building on the biotechnology expertise cultivated through soy sauce manufacturing, Yamasa Corporation began its life sciences business in 1961 with the launch of nucleic acid-based umami seasoning. In the following decades, the company expanded its capabilities into pharmaceutical ingredients and food additives, steadily broadening its business scope.
In 1976, Yamasa introduced a research-use reagent cyclic AMP RIA kit, marking the creation of a new business founded on its proprietary technologies. This led to full-scale entry into the in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) field in 1986 with the launch of cyclic AMP kit "Yamasaa" and PTH kit "Yamasa". By focusing early on monoclonal antibody technologies and establishing these capabilities ahead of competitors, the company has since developed a wide range of IVDs.
From the 2000s onward, Yamasa has actively introduced high-quality diagnostic products from overseas markets and integrated them with its own technologies, further expanding its diagnostic portfolio.
Today, Yamasa’s diagnostic reagents are used in a wide range of settings, including universities, clinical laboratories, and hospitals in Japan and around the world. Committed to continuous innovation under the philosophy of “Technology-driven Yamasa,” we strive to deliver highly original, high-quality products that meet emerging clinical needs and contribute to the advancement of healthcare.
